China's criminal law legislation started since China (PRC) was founded in 1949, and has experienced 3 distinctive periods. 1997 criminal law set the foundational framework for Chinese criminal justice, which still being utilized. In order to accommodate drastic development of Chinese society and economy, China's National People’s Congress (NPC) has made nine amendments to criminal law so far. Since 2012, China carried out the anti-corruption strategies targeted personnel at all levels of the Chinese government and Communist Party of China (CPC), which has made great achievements, but China still confronts many challenges in international anti-corruption cooperation.
